Jet A-1 fuel converter and calculator

Convert jet fuel between litres, US gallons, imperial gallons, kilograms, metric tonnes and pounds. Volume to mass conversions use the density you enter, so you can match the value on your fuel ticket.

Quantity

kg/L

Default 0.800 kg/L. Use the density shown on your fuel ticket. Equivalent to 6.676 lb/USG.

How the conversion works

  • 1 US gallon = 3.785411784 litres
  • 1 imperial gallon = 4.54609 litres
  • Kilograms = litres × density (kg/L)
  • 1 metric tonne = 1,000 kg · 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg

Why density matters

Jet A-1 density changes with temperature and batch, typically between 0.775 and 0.840 kg/L at 15 °C. Volume conversions (litres and gallons) do not depend on density, but any conversion to mass (kilograms, tonnes or pounds) does.

For planning purposes

Results are estimates for planning and quoting. For uplift, invoicing and reconciliation, always use the quantities and density recorded on the fuel ticket.
